UNDRR Global Platform 2019

Building on our successful collaboration in the UNDRR Global Platform 2017 in Cancun, Mexico, IDPP is again providing support for remote participation in the Global Platform 2019 (GP2019) in Geneva, Switzerland.

GP2019 (May 13-17, 2019) designed to accelerate implementation of the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction. State and non-state delegates from around the world will gather in Geneva to assess the progress made in this landmark international approach to inclusive disaster risk management.

IDPP will support access to the conference for participants around the world who would otherwise not be able to attend. A selected series of side-events and working-sessions will include the opportunity of remote participation throughout the week of GP2019. Remote participation and accessible web-conferencing will be provided through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.

Persons interested in participating in this way, may use their personal computers or the free mobile application called Blackboard (which must be installed in advance). If you would like to participate remotely in the selected sessions.

The remote session will allow participates to view selected live conference sessions, which include English closed-captioning. Participants will also be able to ask/answer questions via online messaging or video/audio.

Double Robot Remote Participation:

IDPP will be bringing a Double robot for virtual participation to the UNDRR’s 2019 Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction. These robots provide full maneuverability around the conference venue, and offer unique opportunities for participation.

There will be three means of engaging in the conference events using this robot. Participants can attend the formal sessions and side events, they can attend the special day-long sessions at the Innovate Platform, and the Ignite Stage, and participants will be able to participate in the more casual events of the day such as the exhibition and the informal meet-and greats between sessions. (If participants do use the robot to attend the formal sessions, it is preferred that they keep the robot on the side, or at the back of the rooms, so as to avoid distracting from the panels and presentations).

Participants can sign up for slots throughout each day of the conference, at this sign-up genius link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050f4ba5ae29a5f49-idpp

Those who want to participate will need to download Double ios app for iphone, or connect through the chrome web app at https://admin.doublerobotics.com/login?ready=true.

When the scheduled participant’s time slot comes up, they will be able to access the robot through a link sent to their email.
