IDPP Executive Director Dr. Derrick Cogburn, Professor in the AU School of International Service and Kogod School of Business, is chairing the Disability and Accessibility session at the 21st ACM Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW) in Jersey City, NJ on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
The session, which will take place from 11:00am-12:30pm, includes presentations on the following topics by prominent scholars across the country and internationally: Co-Located Collaboration among Deaf and Hearing Professionals; Disability Disclosure Practices in Online Dating Communities; Collaborative Shopping Practices between People with Visual Impairment and People with Vision; Dyslexia and Expressions of Identity and Multimodal Literacies; and Rethinking Design for Aging and Accessibility.
The 2018 CSCW Conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)’s Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM SIGCHI). According to the conference website, “ACM is an educational and scientific society uniting the world’s computing educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, and address the field’s challenges. SIGCHI is the premier international society for professionals, academics, and students who are interested in human technology and human-computer interaction.”
